We are more than just a food truck. We offer premium selected meats cooked low and slow only using oak wood, live fire, and smoke. Infusing rustic and primal flavors in to your food by our skilled pitmaster and chef using locally sourced fresh ingredients. We bring great food to locations all over Northeast CT and surrounding areas. Our calendar below shows our scheduled stops, but be sure to follow our social media for surprise visits!
Mac's Wood Fired BBQ was founded in 2020 by husband and wife Sean and Kimberly MacVarish. Appropriately nicknamed the "Mac's" is where the name of our brand was born.
Prior to getting together, Kimberly always had dreamed of having her own food truck to have the independence and creative freedom to serve made from scratch comfort foods that she learned to make alongside her grandma's and father, Mike, whom have taught her her culinary skills at a very young age and ignited that spark of inspiration and love of cooking for others. She worked in various aspects of the food industry including serving, bartending, and catering to pay her way through college where she studied and received a degree in dental hygiene. She worked in the dental field for 15 years but always had the gnawing vision of owning a food truck that she just couldn't shake off.
Meanwhile, Sean's inspiration and skills came from when he was a teenager. When his family had bought his father a smoker for Father's Day and Sean began experimenting with different smoked recipes and techniques for fun. He has been working on his craft for over 15 years using different methods of smoking meats and the perfected recipe is as simple as it gets, a true labor of love.
Fast forward to when Kimberly and Sean began dating in 2015, and during a silly conversation about "if you could do anything what would you do with your life?" question popped up, and that's when our two passions collided and the opportunity to blend both of our dreams into a realistic vision came to life.
In 2020, Sean and Kimberly decided to cancel their big wedding they had planned, eloped on their small hobby organic farm, and then used the money they had saved for the wedding and honeymoon to start their business and buy their first little smoker trailer and then the food truck that had all the basics to get started. As the few short years have progressed, we have quickly expanded to our 3rd smoker and plan to upgrade again soon to keep up with all of your requests! At this time, we do not have a brick and mortar restaurant, we are out with our food truck seasonally during the Spring to Fall months and also offer private catering. We are fully licensed and insured to offer your guests a one of a kind experience. Whether you want to keep it simple with beer and wine or want a totally personalized experience with signature craft cocktails, we will create the perfect menu for your event. We provide everything you need for your event - drink ware, mixers, garnishes, and more! Mac’s does not provide the alcohol for your event, we serve the alcohol that has been provided by the party’s host. Our bartenders are fast, friendly, and professional and we set the perfect mood for a memorable experience. Your guest count, the length of your event and what you choose to serve will determine how many bartenders are needed for your event. Once you book, we will finalize cocktails and menus and send you a recommended shopping list for alcohol!

All sandwiches are fully stacked with meat and served on a buttered and toasted artisan roll and served with our creamy coleslaw and choice of sauce on the side.
